Creating Blaque Diamond's 2020 Catalogue

I never took graphic design seriously. I thought about studying it in school, but ultimately thought it was impractical. College is about aiming for the attainable.

Well now I’m a photographer that takes pictures of cool cars which still baffles my financial advisor dad who I’m pretty sure doesn’t believe this is a real job. But it is a real job. While shooting freelance photography, I work full time for Blaque Diamond Wheels creating advertisement media. This content is utilized in everything from their Instagram posts to their yearly catalogue sent to a global community of Blaque Diamond’s retailers.

I kind of fell in to designing Blaque Diamond’s catalogue. Within my first few months of full-time work, I moved from just taking pictures to thinking about color schemes, logo placements, and catalogue design. Initially I felt out of place, lost in a sea of information. I plunged head first, and I think what kept me chugging away at this project is that I was actually showcasing my own work. I was framing my photos like an art gallery, a museum that you could explore with each turn of the page.

With some much needed guidance and input from my co-workers and many iterations later, the final catalogue and brochure (smaller version) were completed in about three months time. This catalogue lives as a trophy, validation of my skill as a photographer. It represents a milestone and gives me perspective. I can look at this and see how far I’ve come, and how far I still need to go.

Below are some of the pages in the 123 page catalogue.
